Valheim is a slap-up secret plan to unaccompanied, but IT's straight better with else players. Exactly how many another early players mightiness be changing drastically in the future, if single group of modders is healthy to bring their vision to life.

VaLNGOS (I'm not sure how to enounce that, but it stands for Valheim Large Network Game Aim Waiter Suite) is a project that aims to turn the 10-player cooperative survival game into an MMO capable of hosting over 1,000 players on the same server. Information technology sounds ambitious, but the team fanny it already hosts a custom server called Comfy Valheim that sack apparently support busy 64 players at once, so maybe a thousand players International Relations and Security Network't that all that Army for the Liberation of Rwanda-fetched. I recently checked down Bannerlord Online, a mod that turns Mount and Blade 2 into a surprisingly operational 1,000-player MMO, thusly information technology seems like anything is possible.

"By moving all server processing from player's computers to the server and using specialized programming languages designed for writing operating systems, the team is positive that even player counts in the thousands could be managed," reads an email from the modding squad sent to PC Gamer.

VaLNGOS will include modern support, which sounds like an fantabulous estimation. Comfy Valheim is a mod-free vanilla server, but with a thousand players I'd expect you'd want to beef up the game with some MMO-like mods. Maybe something like Epic Loot, OR Valheim Legends, which adds sixer character classes with specific abilities to the Viking survival game.

It sounds comparable it could be a neat way to play—I can imagine players building entire towns on binary continents, creating player hubs, and setting improving trading posts whol over the world. It could also breathe some life into PvP, which is a routine of an afterthought in Valheim. Competitive Viking clans could sail the seas in massive fleets to raid from each one other's settlements.

There's no watchword yet on when this server mightiness be up and moving, merely we'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. You can find a few more details and a link to the project's Discord on the VaLNGOS website.

Chris started playing PC games in the 1980s, started composition about them in the earlyish 2000s, and (eventually) started acquiring paid to pen nigh them in the New 2000s. Following a few years as a regular freelancer, PC Gamer hired him in 2014, probably so he'd stop emailing them asking for more work. Chris has a love-hate relationship with survival games and an unhealthy fascination with the inner lives of NPCs. Atomic number 2's also a fan of quirky pretense games, mods, and ignoring storylines in RPGs so he can even off his own.
